There are several methods of removing tree stumps. Mechanical grinding is the quickest method. Stump grinding machines generally operate with a large flywheel equipped with cutting teeth. The operator moves the cutter head over the stump, grinding it away a little at a time. The self-propelled machine that we currently use is on rubber tracks with a very powerful flywheel. Mechanical stump grinding is fast, efficient and well worth the cost.
Many trees native to the Northwest have stumps and root system that are as large as the canopy of the tree itself. Removing the stump is cost effective and removes the threat of future damage to underground utilities. Matt’s Tree Service uses a self-propelled grinder on rubber tracks with cutting teeth on a powerful flywheel that removes the stump with minimal disruption to nearby growth.
“I have used Matt’s twice. Once about five years ago when we moved into a foreclosure which was completely overgrown. 5 hours later they had cleared all the over grown trees. Used them again to remove, grind and remove roots for an overgrown Maple and replace it with a new Crab Apple. On time, clean and professional. I asked for them to return to grind additional roots at my expense – my fault for being unclear. They returned timely for no additional charge. Most of my neighbourhood has done business with them”
