Tree Resources, FAQ and Permits

Below are some useful resources and a list of cities with links to permitting.

City Regulations change often so Matt’s Tree Service recommends contacting your governing officials to be sure no other permits are required or that rules and regulations have not changed.
Home Owner Association (HOA) Regulations can be in addition to city Permits and may require additional permits.

Q:What do I do about fallen, leaning, or overgrown trees?
A:Overgrown trees and green belts: If on public property, they will be inspected and trimmed if deemed necessary. If the overgrown tree is on private property and determined to be a hazard, the City will notify the property owner. If a fallen or leaning tree is a danger to citizens, vehicles, or in the power lines, call 911. Otherwise, report fallen or leaning trees to 425-488-0118

BRIDLE TRAILS
Homes in Bridle Trails require a clearing and grading permit to remove any significant trees.

Clearing and Grading Permit

Q: What if I only want to remove one or two trees? Will I still need to apply for a permit and inventory all my trees?
A: Although a clearing & grading permit will be required for the removal of any significant tree in the R-1 zone of Bridle Trails, you are allowed to remove up to two significant trees on a lot within a three-year period without meeting the perimeter and interior tree retention requirements. When only 8 trees remain, or 8 or fewer trees exist on the property, you are required to replace any of the last 8 significant trees with an equal number of trees somewhere on the lot.
